Your workouts are meant to enhance your life, not consume it!
Fitness doesn’t have a “look”. Strong looks different on everybody.
I’m here to help you learn to lift & get strong with equal parts challenge & compassion.
Finally, a personal training program that moves with you!
I don’t want to just give you a workout. In my opinion, if your personal trainer isn’t teaching you the what/why/how of what you’re doing together so that you can eventually duplicate that experience for yourself, they’re training you to be dependent on them forever.
I LOVE my clients. But also, it’s my hope and dream that they won’t need me forever. Or at the very least, need less guidance the longer we work together.
I’m here to teach you the what/why/how of strength training so that you can:
- Approach your experience of yourself in your workouts with less judgement and more curiosity.
- Tap into your full strength potential and know when it’s time to grab the heavier weights and when to back off, so that you can get stronger without fear of injury.
- Use strength training to enhance all the things you love to do in your life–not let it consume your life.
- Learn how to make any exercise work in your body (aka make it more or less challenging) in ways beyond just grabbing heavier or lighter weights.
- Explore ways to measure progress that have nothing to do with your weight and size so that you feel like there’s a point and a purpose to lifting.
- Let your workouts support your mental and physical health instead of letting yourself get swept up into fitness trends that are the opposite of healthy.
- Explore the gray area between “go hard” and “go home” and ditch the all-or-nothing mentality that’s keeping you stuck.
- Question the messages you’ve absorbed from both the mainstream fitness industry AND the anti-diet culture space so that you can stop following fitness advice that wasn’t meant for you.
You want to be able to lift on your own. Let me help you get there!
1:1 Personal Training + Templated Programming (3 month minimum) package:
6 session option (two per month): $297/month
9 session option (three per month): $357/month
This is for you if:
- You want to work with a personal trainer and also wouldn’t mind some strength training programming you can do on your own on the days we’re not working together.
- You thought about joining my online strength training community, Kettlebell Social but you know you need a little more individual support/accountability before you’re ready to jump into an online program that requires self-motivation.
- You’re not navigating any major movement restrictions or injuries.
- You know you generally want to get stronger and support your physical and mental health but don’t have any super-specific goals in mind.
- You are willing to join a gym or purchase equipment to work out from home (you’ll want at least 2-3 sizes of kettlebells and some resistance bands at minimum).
- You’re content with up to 3 days of workouts to do on your own on the days we’re not together and are good with them being geared towards general strength & conditioning (AKA you’re not looking for a lot of customization).
All personal training packages include:
- Personal training/coaching sessions at frequency of your choice (either in-person in Deerfield IL or virtual).
- DM coaching access to me inside a private app so you can get form checks and coaching in between our 1:1 sessions.
- Client Discord group community so that you can connect with other likeminded women on the same journey.
- A flexible strength training program you can do on your own time (3 days a week max) so that you can spend less time at the gym and more time living your life.
- A constantly growing resource library that tackles your most common questions about lifting, mindset, body image, and more.
- Monthly (optional) community calls with other 1:1 clients and Kettlebell Social members that tackle mindset and movement topics and let you connect with other likeminded women from around the country (and sometimes globe!).
- Monthly (optional) Zoom office hours with me so you can have 15 minutes to pick my brain and get some additional 1:1 time.
- The option to add on additional 1:1 personal training sessions with me at a discounted rate.
Does this NOT sound like you? Maybe you want to meet multiple times/week or need some customized programming? Or you’re in eating disorder recovery and want a HAES personal trainer who can work in collaboration with your treatment team?
I currently have limited capacity for those services, but email me at jenna@itsjennaj.com or fill out an application and tell me more about you. I’ll let you know if I can accommodate what you’re looking for, and if not, I’d love to refer you to a likeminded colleague!
FAQ:
Q: How many sessions per month do you think I need?
A: How much support do you want and how self-motivated are you? If you have a track record of consistently working out on your own on a regular basis, 1-2 sessions per month are probably enough. If you struggle with motivation and establishing an exercise routine, you’ll wanna go with 3 or more.
Q: How long am I committed to the training package I choose?
A: A minimum of 6 months. After that you’re welcome to change your mind. Upgrade, downgrade, or discontinue. Many of my clients bounce around between different ways of working together based on seasons of life, current goals, etc. This program is meant to move with you!
Q: I feel like I want/need more 1:1 sessions per month but that seems out of my budget.
A: Personal training is a big investment. My mission is to give you the tools you need so you can learn to strength train confidently on your own over time. The end goal is that you can eventually do well with fewer 1:1 sessions or even do this on your own.
Q: What if I just want to do personal training sessions without all the extra stuff?
A: The reason I offer all the extra support and community is because over the years I’ve found that my clients do BETTER with it and eventually learn to become more self-sufficient as a result of these extra resources. If you want to do a stand-alone session it’s $107 per session.
This is for you if:
- You aren’t local/just visiting and wanna drop in and train with me once.
- You don’t have ongoing fitness goals but want some occasional one-off help/or a form check with a specific skill or piece of equipment.
Q: What if I just want you to program workouts for me to do on my own?
A: I’m not currently doing customized programming for clients who aren’t seeing me in person, but you can check out my templated DIY programming to see if that’s a good fit.
Q: Where and when do you train clients in person?
A: I currently see 1:1 clients out of a small personal training only gym in Deerfield, IL on Monday evenings, Friday afternoons, and Saturdays. I also see virtual clients on all of these days, plus Wednesday mornings. I have many of clients who commute from Chicago to work with me and they find that if they leave during a low-traffic time (midday, late pm, Saturdays) they can make it in under an hour!
Q: I’m not local to Chicago, can we train on Zoom?
A: Yes! I do take 1:1 Zoom clients after we determine it’s a good fit!
Q: Will working with you help me lose weight?
A: That’s actually not the point here. Please read this blog post about my philosophy on fitness. I don’t blame you if you want to lose weight, but for a variety of reasons I no longer coach intentional loss. If that’s your main focus, you’d probably enjoy working with a different personal trainer.
Q: I’ve seen you post political things like Black Lives Matter and pictures of your “Fuck Trump” lip gloss. I don’t agree but I like the sound of everything else here. Can we still work together?
A: TBH I’m probably not the trainer for you. A big part of what we do together involves letting go over diet culture which is very much wrapped up in ideas like intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and other social justice issues.
Q: Do you only work with women?
A: My online community centers the experience of women. If you’re a cis or trans woman, or a non-binary person comfortable in a space that centers the experience of women, you are welcome here. If you’re a cis man, and think working with me 1:1 is a good idea, apply anyway and let’s talk.
Q: I’m in recovery from an eating disorder. Can we still work together?
A: I do work with clients 1:1 who are in eating disorder recovery, provided that I am working in collaboration with your recovery team (therapist, dietitian, etc.) Staying within my scope of practice and avoiding causing harm is important to me.
Q: Can I do a free consultation before I commit?
A: Yes. Email me jenna@itsjennaj.com to set up a free consultation call to see if we’re a good fit for each other.
