A turquoise square kettlebell with the letters KS on it. The words Kettlebell Social are next to it in turquoise and pink.
Jenna is squatting down by the lakefront with the Chicago skyline in the background at sunset. She's wearing black and white leggings, turquoise Converse and a highlighter yellow tank top. Her hair is down and long and she is looking off into the distance smiling. The words "kettlebell social" are above her head in black with a black kettlebell and the letters KS monogrammed onto it in white.

Come play inside Kettlebell Social where we. . .

I am lifting heavier than I ever have.

Jenna has helped me re-engage with activities and exercises that had bad association for me (looking at you, squats). Because of our work together, I am lifting heavier than I ever have and have experienced pain-free hikes for the first time in years! I have always struggled with squats because of knee issues, and I am doing the deepest, heaviest, best squats of my life after working with Jenna
– Jess D.

Kettlebell Social will show you how to:

  • Lift heavier than you ever thought possible AND have a fun while you’re doing it (if you think learning new/hard things is fun).
  • Get curious about why certain rules around strength training exist, so that you can stop following fitness advice that wasn’t meant for you.
  • Explore ways to measure progress that have nothing to do with your weight and size so that you feel like there’s a point and a purpose to lifting.
  • Use strength training to enhance all the things you love to do in your life–not let it consume your life.
  • Let your workouts support your mental and physical health instead of letting yourself get swept up into fitness trends that are the opposite of healthy.
  • Approach your experience of yourself in your workouts with less judgement and more curiosity.
  • Question the messages you’ve absorbed from both the mainstream fitness industry AND the anti-diet culture space. Because unquestioningly following advice from fitness influencers and unquestioningly following advice from anti-diet professionals are two different flavors of the same shit sandwich.

Kettlebell Social is for you if:

  • You’re already in the habit of working out regularly but you want to learn some new shit and get clear on what things are worth spending your time on at the gym.
  • You’re ready to start questioning why certain rules around fitness exist and whether or not they even make sense for you to follow.
  • You think women who lift heavy weights are badass and you wanna feel more confident in your ability to do it on your own.
  • Knowledge is power to you–you want to learn the what/why/how of strength training on your own.
  • You think kettlebells are cool and you wanna learn more things you can do with them.
  • You’re also not into fitness dogma and want options in your workouts (we like kettlebells here but they’re not the ONLY thing we do).
  • You know you need a coach who is compassionate and empathetic but also pushes you out of your comfort zone.
  • You’re ready to let go of the all-or-nothing approach to fitness and want some tools to start to call yourself out on your own bullshit.
  • You wanna be able to live your life and stop caring about how much you weigh or whether or not you can still fit into your jeans from 2006.
  • You’re craving community and would love to meet some likeminded and accepting new friends to support you on this journey—you love your real life friends but they’re still trying to do a Whole30.
  • You don’t need the accountability of seeing a personal trainer every week–but you do want a little support.

A: That’s actually not the point here. Please read this blog post about my philosophy on fitness. I don’t blame you if  you want to lose weight, but for a variety of reasons I no longer coach intentional loss. There are plenty of fat loss coaches out there, but if that’s your main focus this program is not a good fit for you.

A. Absolutely. This program involves 3 days a week of strength training workouts. It leaves you plenty of space to do activities you love, to rest, to live your life! I help you navigate how strength training can enhance your life & all the other things you love to do!

A: A gym membership is preferable, but can absolutely do it from home if you’re willing to invest in equipment. If you’re a gym person, you’ll want to make sure your gym has the equipment we’ll be using. (see the next Q.)

A: Minimally, at least 3 kettlebells, a few sets of dumbbells, some resistance bands (light, medium, heavy relative to you) to start. If you continue to work out from home, you’ll find that your home gym equipment needs to grow with you. Some the programming for continuing members (6 months+) includes barbell options as well!

A: Totally not weird! If you enjoyed your experience working together before, I’d love to have you back. Many of my clients find that they ebb and flow in and out of needing different kinds of support with their workouts.

A: Great Q! Kettlebell Social is the natural evolution of what that program became over the years. It’s a membership that you can join at any time, and is a blended community of both my 1:1 & group clients that’s designed to move with you as your needs for support change. It involves less mindset coaching and is more geared towards people who are already in the habit of working out. If that’s not you, 1:1 would be a better fit for you. Mindset tools offered are more of a resource library you can use as you need vs. an online course that you need to complete on a timeline.

A: Not weird at all! Participating in other coaches’ programs has been a big part of my journey and I’ve had many other fitpros as clients over the years. If you wanna get better at lifting, learn more about kettlebell skills, get a better feel for programming, and figure out how to do what I do, come on in. Especially if you learn best by doing. I love creating community with other like-minded coaches.

A: To be honest, if this doesn’t align with your values you’d definitely hate it here. In addition to strength training and exercise mindset, we also regularly share openly about the things like anti-racism work and social justice issues.

A: Kind of? But you don’t get nearly the depth of knowledge you do when we work through it together. Coaching is a more collaborative experience–meaning we talk about the things I teach online within the context of your lived experience. You definitely won’t get the strength training programs. Plus it’s so much more fun to be a part of a community.

A: If you’re already in the habit of working out a few times a week and are invested in personal growth, it will likely save you time.

A: If you’re coming not being active at all, or are navigating any major movement limitations or injuries it might be. Consider adding on some 1:1 sessions first to get yourself back in the game. If you have a history of being active, but have just never focused on strength training/kettlebell skills before you’ll be just fine!

A: I doubt it! Truth be told, I’m a fitness professional and still regularly work out using my own programs! There is room to grow here and adapt the workouts to your ability and energy level. There’s also the option to start later in the programming if you have previous kettlebell & strength training experience. If you’re not sure, let’s talk!

A: If this is where you are, a program like this won’t help you with that. I’d suggest working with a 1:1 personal trainer so you have an appointment to show up for, or to explore other kinds of movement that you find enjoyable first.

A. This program is set up for monthly payments. I do offer pay-what-you-can scholarships for those who are struggling financially. You can indicate your interest in a scholarship on your application to join.

A: Read this blog post about how to know if an online training program is right for you. Run your last program and the description of Kettlebell Social through that filter and see for yourself!

A: Kettlebell Social is now on rolling enrollment. When you sign up there is a 3 month minimum commitment, and after that you can stay as long as you’d like or cancel any time.

A: If you’re a cis or trans woman, or a non-binary person comfortable in a space that centers the experience of women, you are welcome here.

A: I’d encourage you to wait until you’re further along in your recovery. Or consider working with me 1:1 so that I can collaborate with your treatment team.  Please seek help from a therapist who specializes in eating disorders BEFORE you start working with a trainer or coach.
